Our Kick-Off Presentation

6pm, Tuesday, September 14 - Kernville Community Room
We held a  meeting to talk about our next Living Green KRV Festival

followed by a screening of  two short films:

  • "For the Price of a Cup of Coffee" [trailer] a short(15 minutes) environmental documentary examining the life cycle of a paper cup and the repercussions of a society reliant on convenience. Why are less than 1% of coffeeshop patrons bringing their own cup? Why do we have so much garbage, and where does it go? What is the true cost of a disposable culture?

  • "Ubuntu" a short (8 minutes) film from South Africa from the Global Oneness Project. Ubuntu, a traditional African philosophy, recognizes how we are inextricably bound in each other’s humanity. Translated as, “I am because you are,” Ubuntu describes a sense of unity between people through which we each discover our own strengths and virtues. Featuring healer Credo Mutwa, GreenHouse Project director Dorah Lebelo, and former Deputy Minister of Health Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge, this glimpse of South Africa shows compassion as a way of life.

The main Living Green Kern River Valley Festival will be held from Thursday, March 17, 2011 through Sunday, March 27, 2011 here in California's Kern River Valley.

If you were not able to attend this meeting, but would like to be a volunteer for the 3rd Annual Living Green Kern River Valley Festival, e-mail us at LivingGreen@mchsi.com.
You can volunteer for just one 2-hour stint to our Treasurer (who would serve on our Steering Committee).
